Many fears are completely normal... for instance it is natural to fear heights, dangerous situations, etc...it is an inbuilt self defence mechanism that protects us from harm. However, when the fear gets out of control and consumes a person to the extent that thier quality of life is severely affected., then it has become a phobia and is something that needs to be dealt with. although it may not feel like it, phobias are actually mainly learned fears, which have gotten out of hand and now needs taming and bring back under control. anything that has been learned and be unlearned and so there is hope for the phobia sufferer to overcome and eventually conquer thier fears.
